Bias, data money, privacy, accountability, systemic injustice, environmental collapse are creating chaotic scenarios that will lead to stagnation and failure with a business-as-usual attitude. Conventional thinking, tried and tested, is no longer fit for tomorrow’s world. We need to embrace new, other-ways of seeing, analyzing, making and doing. We start by accepting there is no right. Only wrong.
Co-founded and led by a scientist and a designer, The Wrong Department was established as an antidote to the overly reactive and conventional industry model where design follows research.
Our model is based on a pro-active approach where we study and we design in unison. We make to question and we question what we make.
Through making theory a reality, the invisible visible, and the intangible tangible, our approach creates new impactful ways to fix complex problems and explore unseen opportunities.
